ACT 2025 Changes

The ACT is changing in 2025. Here is what they are changing and when.

February 2025: An online test will be offered. You can still choose to do the paper test if you want. You still have to go to a testing center in order to take the test. You will still have access to scratch paper and can use a calculator. The online test will be the same as the paper test.

April 2025: The online test changes, but the paper test stays unchanged. The new test is called the ACT test Enhanced. This is a list of how the ACT online enhanced test will be different from the paper test:

  • The science section is optional and will be an additional cost.
  • Super score is made up of English, Math, and Reading. (Is still 1-36)
  • Fewer questions and less time, but more time per question. English is 35min 50q; Math 50min 45q; Reading 40min 36q.
  • Multiple choice questions out of 4 instead of out of 5.

September 2025: The paper test is updated to reflect the changes present on the online ACT Enhanced test. The online and paper tests will once again be the same.

Note that the Enhanced ACT is not adaptive like the SAT. The ACT is subject to change so make sure to check the official ACT website for any updates.
