Select Choice offers individual and small group instruction for both SAT and ACT. Instruction is offered both in person and online. 

When should my child start preparing for the ACT or SAT?

The ideal time to start SAT or ACT preparations is the summer between Sophomore and Junior year. This allows students to take their first tests in the fall of Junior year. Starting early either gets this milestone of college application out of the way early if a student achieves a satisfactory score or leaves plenty of time to prepare for additional tests if necessary.

How many sessions are recommended for ACT/SAT prep with Select Choice?

For individual instruction, Select Choice offers a discounted package of 10 one-hour sessions. We find this sufficient for most students. Our small group “boot camps” run for 8 two-hour sessions (16 hours total)

Can Select Choice help improve my child’s ACT score in a short time?

Most students are surprised by how quickly their scores start to improve. Often significant results start to manifest in as little as fiver or six sessions. Of course, this is dependent mostly on a students doing some work outside the sessions, as well as their ability to change their approach to many problem types. 

How do I know if my child needs ACT or SAT tutoring?

So many questions parents have about the tests are answered the same way: take a practice test. If a student can obtain a score that meets their admissions or scholarship goals, then they should probably just practice a little and take an actual test. If they are struggling to meet their goals, then consider getting some help. 

How much does tutoring with Select Choice cost?

Can Select Choice help my child build test-taking confidence?

Most of our preparation revolves around students taking practice tests using actual SAT tests and questions. Familiarity with the material and format helps reduce stress. More importantly, students’ documented improvement gives them confidence. In addition, we provide some basic techniques to mitigate test anxiety. 

What happens if we need to cancel or reschedule a session?

Contact our office at least 48 hrs before the exam to reschedule.

In a recent review of 100 students over 37% improved by 140 points or more, 27%+ improved 80-140 points, and 30% improved 10-80 points. 

Do students need to bring anything to the sessions?

Students should bring a pencil, the calculator they will use on test day, and a spiral notebook.

What study materials or apps do you use in your tutoring sessions?

Students have access to our online classroom with dozens of lessons covering all aspects of the test. Students are also given a study notebook.
